~A Post On The Subtlety of Cars (12-16-08)~

Ok, my apologies first go out to those of you who have been waiting on my posts for about... Oh, I'd say almost a month. A bunch of things have been going on, both in the real world, and in the gaming one, that have kept me from updating this site. Unfortunately, I am still not through having that busy schedule (Christmas is coming up, after all), but I am going to try to post more often. We'll see how that works out.

Now, you may be wondering what in the world the post title is talking about! Let me tell you. Just this past week, my Mamaw gave me and my sister her old car. Well, it's old in that it isn't modeled after this year's stuff, but it is new to me and my sister! The car is a dark blue Dodge Neon, and it has its ups and downs. Before I go on, I guess I'd better mention that I'm used to driving a minivan, which I have used for about 2 years (sharing it with my sister and my mom). The difference between the van and the car are, unlike what the title says, anything BUT subtle. The biggest difference, of course, is going to be that the car is much, much shorter than the van, and that is very disconcerting.
Another thing is that the windshield wipers aren't exactly up to par, and the wiper fluid streaks like crazy. That doesn't sound like much, but when you are driving down the road in a mist, then you can't use the windshield wipers- they just smear the water across the windshield, making it worse than it was. I am going to my local Wal*Mart some time during lunch, and hopefully they can hook me up with a new set of wipers.
I think one of the bigger problems is that down here in Texas, it rains quite a bit. Unfortunately, the frame of the car leaks in such a way that water gets into the body of the car and can ruin the interior (especially the trunk). I was told by my Uncle (who was helping showing me some of the car's problems so I'd know what to look out for) that the only way to really solve this problem would be to drill a hole in the bottom of the car to let the water drain out. I'll have to see if I can get someone to do that... without hitting the gas tank ;).
I have to say, though, that with all these problems, it is still a very nice car. And what can make it better? The fact that my dear Mamaw gave it to me and my sister. Yes, you heard that right- she gave it to us. As in, completely, utterly, without a doubt F.R.E.E. To which, I am entirely in her debt. There is, however, a glaring flaw to the car, which I may have to address sooner or later. And that flaw is the C.D. Player... Or lack thereof in this case. Yes, I sadly have to report that the cute little Dodge Neon that is now my main mode of transportation has absolutely no form of audio entertainment in it. I will soon be saving up for, at the least, a C.D. to tape player converter. If I can find a decently priced one, I may just buy a new C.D. System for the car. I will have to see, though, because I'm pretty sure that a new audio system is probably WAY out of my price range.

Now, most of you are either bored out of your minds because you don't care about cars (I am normally in this group... unless I was just given a car), or there are some of you who were interested in this post, and you might want a nice little picture of the dark blue Dodge Neon. Well, when I can get my camera and take a couple shots of it, I will, then I will post them here for you car lovers.

As a last note, we have a family tradition of naming our vehicles. That may sound silly, but it's what we do, and what have done for many years... Not that we've gotten all that many cars/vans/etc. Anyway. The name of the Neon is Ole Blue... At least, that's what I call it... My sister has a different name for it, but you'd have to ask her what it is...

Well, before I type your eyes off, I'll sign off now.

Thanks for reading Jophon's Jot! Jophon Out!

~FlyFF- The Princess And Her Bodyguard (11-10-08)~

I told you I'd be posting on a completely different subject next time I got on! This time, I'll be talking about FlyFF, or Flying For Fun, a game otherwise known as an MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). Now, you don't have to worry about me advertising- I don't like the game THAT much- But I do like the game enough that I want to show some cool screen shots I got of it.

For background, my sister's birthday was on the 2nd of November, and for a birthday present, I bought her 2,000 Gpotatoes (worth about $20... And no, I got her other presents too). You can use Gpots to buy premium Cash Shop items for your character. Well, I told her (my sister) that she could have anything in the cash shop, up to $20 worth. She then spent the next half hour looking over the Flyff Wikipedia and deciding what suit she wanted. She eventually got a combination of the Hanbok (F) armor and the Dress Red Hat [their spelling]. Of course, I wanted my character to go along with hers, since she and I both get on that game and party together (to the exclusivity of anyone else). Well, I bought the Yukata2006 (M) armor, but I could not, for the life of me, figure something that would go well with that armor. My problem lay in that both my sister and I were Acrobats (the long range archers in this game), and the male hat really looked bad, especially with the new Yukata2006 armor. My dilemma came because I did not want to get rid of the Yukata armor, I wanted something to cover the Acrobat hat, but the hat looked extremely hideous with my new armor. Not only did I have all those problems, but I still wanted something that would, in some way, have me match my sister's set. It took me over 4 days of looking at the cash shop before I found the perfect item. Ironically, it solved my Acrobat hat problem by not covering the hat like I wanted, but by adding to my whole look and making me look... C.O.O.L.

How did I do this? Well, as a song I've heard goes “Put on a pair of cheap sunglasses”. Well, these sunglasses weren't exactly cheap (cost me $20), but they did their job and then some (they also increased my MP, a stat I was badly in need of). Well, I think you all are probably shouting in your desk chairs “Well, what do you and your sister look like already?!”. Unfortunately, I don't actually have the screenshot right now (losing a single picture on an external harddrive with over 150 Gigabytes of pictures on it is pretty hard to find). Fortunately for you guys, I will either find the screenshot by the end of the day, or I will take another one by tomorrow. At that point, you will get to see for yourselves just how awesome we look!
EDIT: Found the picture! Now you can enjoy us in our coolness!

“Beware those of you who wish to harm the Princess Rose! Her Protector is strong, and their friendship stronger! But even more, be mindful that even a Rose has thorns!”

As you can see from the screenshot (when I get it up), we look kind of... different. But we still match. We portray ourselves as the princess and her bodyguard- I think you can guess who is who. This actually goes quite well with what we do, since I usually am the one who gets attacked by the monster, while my sister does most of the damage.
And yes, I did edit out her name. I never got her permission to have her username blasted across the realms of cyberspace and seen by everyone. As for me? I don't really care. I have ways of dealing with attackers!

I hope you enjoyed today's Jot! Have a good day, and Jophon out!

~Elected (11-5-08)~

Well, it is the next day, the day after the elections. The results are in, and as long as no one tries to contest them in court (which has been done), then the one man whom the majority has voted for has won the presidency. Now, I know most of you have probably been watching the news, reading blogs, and doing anything you can to keep up to date with the election, so this news is probably old to everyone. Regardless, and for posterity's sake, I will tell everyone who that particular man is whom America decided (or was blindsided into... but that's another blog) is the best person to rule this country.

Barack Obama Is Elected”

I will clearly state (again) that I did not and still would not vote for Barack Obama, but obviously the majority of Americans did. It seems lopsided, if any of my sources are correct, with Obama beating McCain by a landslide. We will see what Obama will do when he actually gets into office. As it is now, President George W. Bush is being a lame duck right now, especially considering that a considerable amount of House and Senate seats were taken by the Demos yesterday (or today).

We will see further down the road, in the 4 years to come, whether or not Obama is everything the media and every other liberal Demo has been touting he is. We will also see if Obama is willing to stand up for the things that he says he does. It would be a rather minor disappointment if it turns out that he won't increase gay 'rights' and legalize abortion in every state. A minor disappointment indeed. But that is just wishful thinking on my part.

Now, before any of you people get the idea that this blog is purely for political purposes, stop. This blog IS for anything I want to blog about, but I am a far cry from being anywhere near interested in politics. I do, however, care about the man who rules this country and, in effect, makes the laws and ordinances (or approves of them, at least), and nominates some of the most powerful people to office (i.e. the Chief Justice- head dude of the whole judicial system- gets nominated by the president and voted on by the Senate).

As a last note, unless some big political issue comes up tomorrow (which may happen), I will be blogging on a completely different subject. I may actually create separate pages for each topic (such as Politics, Games, Geek, Life, Etc.) and have links of them here. We will have to see, though. If you have any ideas, suggestions, or comments about my site, feel free to check out the email address at the bottom of this page. Email me, and I'll gladly check out anything you might have in the way of advice.

Everyone have a good day! Don't get frazzled if your nominee didn't win- presidential or not- because we ALL know that God is in control of this world, and He still has His eye on America! God obviously wanted Barack Obama to win this presidency. We will now have to wait and see why. We are in His hands, and there is nothing anyone can do that can harm us past where God wants us hurt! Think about it, pray about it, and thank Him who gave us this land to vote in!

~~God Bless America!~~

~Repubs & Demos (11-4-08)~

Ok, as my second official post on this website, I now announce my first political position by telling everyone that I am Republican, and not only that, I will also vote for McCain. Of course, not only am I voting for McCain, I am also avidly denouncing Obama.

I do have solid reasons for supporting McCain and for not going with the whole 'Obama Hype' that the media has been spouting for about 3-4 months now.

I will also not boast and say I know a ton about politics. Heck, I'll admit that I know only a small amount. But I do FIRMLY believe that abortion, gay marriage, and governmental spending are all wrong. Ok, so the last one is something that anyone can apply to, but the first two reasons (abortion and gay marriage) I WILL NOT and CANNOT vote for anyone who has approved (either by vote *Obama*, or by speech *Obama*) of either issues. It is my belief that both the view that a woman can justify murdering her child (whether or not it is a fetus is a completely moot point), and that two people of the same gender can have a union in marriage, are both utterly wrong.

Unfortunately, neither party is completely perfect. McCain, while he WILL be my pick for president, still has problems of his own. I don't like his 'education reform' on being able to choose the school your kid goes to (after he's already been going to another). It may sound like a good idea at first, but this means that no school will want to clean up their act as much because those that want the school changed (or have the ability to change it) leave for another school. The people who cannot or do not care about the school's problems will continue to live with it, and change for the school will come very slowly, if at all. And since the youth of our country- the ones being raised by the schools we put our children in- will eventually become the next ones in line for leadership, we need to make sure that every school available is at its best- something I don't see happening very much with McCain's education policy. Some of this has already shown itself, mainly through how corrupt our culture is. If we want to clean up our act and have our country become the land it once was, then we need to make sure that we have the schools to teach our kids what we want our kids taught, not what the government wants. (OK so that's another blog altogether, LOL).

Anyway, this is some pretty heavy, debatable stuff here. Of course today I am heading down to the voting center in my town, and I will hope to make a small difference in this country by using my small hammer, taking a swing and making that single, important vote.

In summary today, remember to vote in what you want this country to become in the future. No candidate is going to be perfect, but both McCain and Obama are so radically different, you will either like the one and hate the other, or vice versa.

This is Jophon from Jophon's Jot signing out. Have a great day, and remember to vote!

~Of New And Of Old (10-31-08)~

First of all, I want to mention that this is my first post of my new blog- Jophon's Jot. It is not my first blog, but my newest one. Also, I mostly hand-code my website, so if it looks a little bland to you, it's because I'm still learning! Eventually, when you check the top of this page, you will see several links to older blogs that I used to do. Most of them are now outdated, but I may start up on them eventually, hence the links.

Using a WYSIWYG editor is a new experience for me(as mentioned before, I usually hand-coded my sites), and as such, I am still trying to figure out why the heck it does some of the things it does. But I'm sure I'll get the hang of it sooner or later.

I guess I should probably summarize what my blog is going to be all about. Maybe I should summarize it in THREE words? Ok.

Anything I Want.”
